Mission Critical: Our COVID-19 Response
Patient and Staff Safety Is Our Highest Priority as We Accept COVID Patients
In support of our mission to provide the right care at a critical time, RML Specialty Hospital is now accepting patients with COVID-19. As one of the largest ventilator-weaning hospitals in the country, we believe this is the right thing to do for our community as we fight this pandemic.
Our highest priority at this important time: the safety of our patients and staff.
To ensure everyone’s safety and to provide the best possible health care to our current patients and those newly admitted with COVID-19, we are following the CDC guidelines and the comprehensive plan developed by the experts on our COVID-19 Clinical Task Force.
- COVID Patient Unit: We will admit a limited number of COVID-positive patients who are still on ventilators. They will be cared for in a wing of the hospital that is separate from the rest of the building.
- Separate Entrance and Exit: The ambulance entrance for patients remains functional for all admissions. The entrance currently opens into an anteroom (a clean room), where there are doors on either end to control the access to either the COVID Unit or the rest of the facility.
RML Specialty Hospital continues to keep the safety of our patients as our top priority. We are practicing universal masking in the facilities per the CDC guidelines, actively screening our staff for fevers, as well as keeping our COVID-positive patients in the separate, closed-off unit with dedicated staff.
- Staff Training and Preparation: The physicians and clinical staff who will be working on the COVID-19 unit volunteered to help us meet our community’s critical need. They have received specialized training and have access to all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), including N95 masks, gloves, and gowns. They will be monitored twice daily by our Employee Health Department for fever and other symptoms.
