Emergency Services

In early 2012, Illinois legislators passed PA 97-0667 eliminating the requirement for long-term acute care hospitals to maintain an emergency department. Both RML’s Chicago and Hinsdale campuses stopped maintaining standby emergency services on February 1, 2012.

RML is a long-term acute care hospital treating a specialized patient population. We are not equipped with the services needed to fully diagnose and treat emergency conditions. These services are readily available at your local community hospitals.

Experiencing a medical emergency?

Call 911 if you are experiencing a life-threatening illness or injury.
For emergencies that are not life-threatening, please go to your local community hospital so your treatment can be started without any unnecessary delay.
Seek treatment with your physician or an urgent care center if you are experiencing signs and symptoms of a cold, flu or general aches and pains.
