Careers at RML Specialty Hospital

Want to be part of an outstanding team at a leading critical care organization where your skills and compassion can change patients’ lives? RML is an employer of choice.

At RML we value each staff member’s contribution to our Mission and believe that a collaborative effort is essential. We respect the individual rights, dignity and privacy of our patients and co-workers. We focus on excellence while providing compassionate and safe quality care.

About RML

RML treats some of the most medically complex patients, giving staff the opportunity to make a real, measurable difference in outcomes. Unlike short acute stays, RML allows clinicians to see progress over weeks, build patient/family relationships, and witness recovery milestones. Daily collaboration among physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, rehab, case management, and pharmacists creates a true team-based culture.

RML’s staff is made up of more than 70 physicians and 600 employees, including nurses, respiratory and rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists, and dietitians who treat and comfort patients during sometimes long journeys.

We are partners with Loyola University Health System and Advocate Health Care, ensuring strong connections and comprehensive resources that promote enriching career experiences.

Why Join the RML Team

Staff are trusted as experts, encouraged to speak up, and actively involved in care planning and decision-making. The focus is on quality, outcomes, and patient-centered care, not rapid turnover or throughput pressures common in traditional hospitals.

An Employee’s View

“I’ve worked at RML Specialty Hospital for 20 years, and I love what I do. I’ve seen firsthand the service and care our staff provides to our patients. My fondest memory is the caroling we do for patients and family members every year at the holidays. It’s extremely gratifying and a great morale-builder, and it’s a symbol of RML’s family atmosphere. This is a very special place to work.”

Chris B., Supply Management

“I’ve only been here about two years, and I could not have done it without the help of all the other staff who have helped me along the way.”

Michelle P., Patient and Family Services

“There is great collaboration between team members that makes work meaningful and inspiring.”

Kim F., Unit Manager

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

RML is fundamentally led by our code of ethical behavior. At the heart of that code is the commitment to treat the people we serve and our fellow employees fairly, and with dignity, courtesy, and respect. All persons are entitled to work in or to be cared for in an environment free of discrimination, and verbal, physical, and sexual harassment.

Our expectation is that if you are a patient, visitor, employee, business partner, or even simply communicate with us—you will be treated with dignity and respect.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) encompasses a culture of acknowledging, embracing, supporting, and accepting of all racial, sexual, gender, religious, socioeconomic, and unique backgrounds.

The RML Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee strives to identify, educate, and eliminate potentially discriminatory practices and barriers to impartially serve our patients. We seek to foster a welcoming and respectful environment for our institution.
